Jaisu Shipping Company Pvt Ltd. during the mid 90's realized that it could help Kandla port solve the problem that it was facing with oil transportation. The port was overcrowded with vessels and draft was not maintained for large Oil tankers to berth.
Jaisu Shipping Company Pvt Ltd set up a plan with the group of its experts to solve the problem. A double banking lighterage program was carried out according to the rules set by International Chamber of Shipping, the planning is briefed below.
Jaisu Shipping Company decided to deploy three of its special tankers namely God Prestige, God Premium and Glory for the operation. These tankers were capable loading and discharging their complete cargo within 3-4 hours. The pumping capacity was specially designed for such operations.
The tankers would sail to OTB area at Kandla port where the mother vessel would be anchored. Within couple of hours the mother vessel would transfer oil to the daughter vessel. Then since there was no berths available at Kandla port for receiving Oil Cargo Jaisu Shipping Company Pvt Ltd single handedly created temporary discharging arrangements without disturbing then current facilities that were in use.
The HSD would then be stored at a Tank Farm facility then operated by Jaisu Shipping Company. The company was solely responsible for the quality and quantity of Oil that was transferred to its vessels. Shortest time scheduled had to be maintained with no margin for error. Only 0.01% losses out of total transfer were allowed. Jaisu Shipping Company was solely responsible for all the safety measures that had to be taken into consideration.
Jaisu Shipping Company was responsible to get Statutory Permissions, Explosive Licenses, Pollution/ Spillage poof insurances etc to complete the transfer. To prove its capabilities Jaisu Shipping Company took this as a challenge and completed the task efficiently in the given scheduled time, while following all the rules and regulations and finally playing a big role in ending the Oil Crisis at Kandla Port.
